CR is Loving – Small Ways to Make a Difference

Today is Wear Yellow Day for Allison Baden-Clay.
It is a day to remember a beautiful woman whose life was ended too soon.
It is a day to reflect on the other women and children who suffer at the hands of domestic violence.
It is a day to strive to be kind.
Today, Clarity Road is loving small ways to make a difference.

Donate Blood

One in three Australians will need a blood transfusion in their lifetime. At present, only one in thirty of us donate.

Giving blood isn’t the most pleasant experience: but every time you sit in the chair, you endure a few moments of discomfort to potentially save a life. This is a worthwhile trade-off in anyone’s books.

What many people don’t know about giving blood is that the process is more structured than simply turning up and baring your arm. Most centres require you to book an appointment in advance.

Head to the Donate Blood website to find a donation centre in your area and to register for an appointment today.

Penguin Foundation Jumpers

Are your relatives sick of receiving scarves for Christmas? Are you looking for another way to put your knitting skills to good use?

Why not knit a jumper for a penguin?! And yes, we are 100% serious.

Every year, thousands of penguins are affected by oil in the ocean. This oil makes penguin feathers lose their waterproof qualities – their first instinct is to swim to shore and get the oil off. Not only do the jumpers help to keep rehabilitating penguins warm, but also prevents them from ingesting dangerous toxins while cleaning their feathers. And, let’s face it, they look adorable!

Get started by downloading the Penguin Jumper Pattern from Spotlight or visit the Penguin Foundation website for more information.

Volunteering Australia

There are always opportunities to get involved in your community – you just need to know where to find them.

Volunteering Australia is the best place to go if you are looking to make a difference in the lives of others. Through the site, you can search volunteering opportunities in areas like animal care, youth leadership and committee support. These opportunities range in duration from one-off events to ongoing commitments – whatever you have the time for.

Head to the website and get searching today.

Reach out to a loved one…

This isn’t a website or an organisation…this is just some advice from the heart.

There is someone you know who was once a big part of your life. Who you have lost touch with over the years. Who you still think of every week.

Use this weekend to reach out to them. See how they are…let them know that they are still in your heart – even if time and circumstances mean that things won’t go back to the way they were.

There may be a few awkward moments. There may even be some tears. But whatever you do, don’t not call.

Be brave and spread kindness. You never know the difference that your call will make.

Give Yourself A Break

Taking a break means prioritising self-care in whatever way nourishes your soul. It could be taking a holiday, going to the hair dresser, doing a dance class, art class, or yoga, meditation, deep breathing, laughing with a friend, or visualising a happy place. “Stress mode” cannot coexist with “relaxation mode”, so find a way to relax and take a break.
