To save you the hassle of sifting through thousands of irrelevant apps – because really, who has the time? – the Clarity Road Team have compiled the below list of our preferred apps for parents.

Apps for parenting

First Aid by Australian Red Cross

Cost: Free

The official Australian Red Cross First Aid app gives you instant access to the information you need to know to handle the most common first aid emergencies. Interactive and simple step-by-step advice means it’s never been easier to know first aid.

ChoreMonster

Cost: Free

Choremonster is an app designed to make chores less painful for kids. The app allows parents to manage rewards for chore completion. These rewards may be real-world, like ice-cream or Xbox privileges, or can be inbuilt into the app itself in the form of the Monster Carnival. Parents can also generate schedules and create a points system that suits their needs.

Cozi Family Organiser

Cost: Free

Cozi is the leading choice for families and includes a shared calendar, shopping lists, to do lists and more. Cozi Family Organizer is shared, so you only need one account for the whole family. It can also be synced across multiple devices as well as your home computer. Cozi features include a family calendar, shopping lists, to-do lists and a family journal that can be viewed by every member of your family with the app installed on their mobile device.

AnyList

Cost: Free

AnyList is the best way to create and share grocery shopping lists and recipes. Lists are easily organised, saved and shared with your spouse or roommates. Changes show up instantly on everyone’s iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

Apps for parents of young children

Total Baby

Cost: $4.99

Total Baby is the most popular baby logging and tracking application in the iTunes App Store. It will help you log and time all aspects of your child’s care through a smart and sleek interface that makes tracking easy and fun. Using the app, you can keep track of your child’s feeding, nursing, nap times, growth, allergies, immunisations and more. The app has also been optimised for more than one child.

WebMD Baby

Cost: Free

This app is designed for parents of children ages 0 to 2-years-old. It includes features that record and share your baby’s routine, track everything from your baby’s growth to development and gives daily wellness tips. There is also a baby book that allows parents to capture baby’s memorable moments including baby’s “firsts” with videos or photos taken on the spot or pulled from your iPhone library.

Baby Monitor & Alarm

Cost: iTunes $2.99, Android $4.59

This app transforms your smartphone into a baby monitor and alarm. After downloading the app, you can connect it to a second phone in your house – land-line or mobile. Leave your phone with the app installed next to your child while they sleep, and the app will automatically call the nominated phone number to alert you that your baby is awake.

Baby Pack & Go

Cost: $0.99

This app is designed to make travelling with children as easy as possible. It features multiple packing checklist templates according to your child’s age and what type of trip you are taking to ensure that nothing is forgotten. The lists can also be customised according to how many children you have as well as your child’s needs. Lists can be shared between multiple devices or emailed to a family member or friend to give you piece of mind.

Pull-Ups* Big Kid App

Cost: Free

Featuring your child’s favorite Disney characters, the Pull-Ups* Big Kid App is loaded with tips, tools, advice and more to help you celebrate every milestone with your Big Kid. The app has a range of features to simplify potty training, including games, a Star Rewards Program, a checklist and timer, as well as training tips and articles for parents.

This week, Julie was invited to Churchie Anglican Grammar School to speak at the Year 9 Gender Summit. The Gender Summit saw boys from Year 9 welcome invited delegates from St Aidan’s Anglican Girls’ School, St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School, Somerville House, Moreton Bay College and Lourdes Hill College. The event engages young future leaders in issues surrounding gender equality, specifically examining the challenges that lie ahead for a more gender equitable Australia.
