Apps for finding work

Australian JobSearch

Cost: Free

Australian JobSearch is Australia’s largest free mobile app for online jobs. It is funded and operated by the Australian Government as a free service to assist job seekers into employment.

SEEK

Cost: Free

Connected to seek.com.au, SEEK allows you to search one of Australia’s largest and most comprehensive job hubs. If you have an account with SEEK, the app also allows you to apply online.

Connected to mycareer.com.au, SEEK allows you to search one of Australia’s largest and most comprehensive job hubs. If you have an account with My Career, the app also allows you to apply online.

Centrelink Express Plus Job Seekers

Cost: Free

This app allows those registered as a job seeker with Centrelink to report their income and changes in circumstances to Centrelink without the hassle of visiting an office or waiting on the phone. You can also upload documents, review payments, apply for payments and more using the app.

Apps for networking

LinkedIn

Cost: Free

The LinkedIn app makes easy for LinkedIn members to view job advertisements, connect and grow your network, engage with professional content and gain insights right from the updates feed. The intelligent navigation is personalised based on how you use LinkedIn.

Cardmunch

Cost: Free

Developed by LinkedIn, Cardmunch is an app that scans your business cards and turns the information into contacts. These details can be integrated to your LinkedIn account, allowing you to view more about new contacts and connect with them in a single click.

Apps for budgets

Pocketbook

Cost: Free

Pocketbook is a budgeting app that allows you to connect each of your accounts and to organise and monitor your income, bills, spending and account balances. Once connected to your accounts, Pocketbook automatically updates your financial position as your balance changes without any user input. The app allows you to schedule reminder for payments and can be personalised to send warnings if your account balance is running low. Mint also offers an online budgeting tool and can be synced across multiple devices. Not only is this convenient, but also smart security-wise – if one of your devices is lost or stolen, you can connect online and disable your account before prying eyes are able to view your financial details.

Visual Budget

Cost: Free

Separation and divorce is often accompanied by big financial changes. This app allows you to easily manage your personal and business accounts using powerful, advanced analysis and consolidation features. Visual Budget allows you to keep track of several different accounts, and to define your budget in a precise but easy way.

Apps for debt

IOU

Cost: $2.99

IOU is a debt manager app for things and money. It allows you to keep records of all personal debts, bills and loans and to set reminders of payments. The app also features a debt sharing function that syncs to the cloud, Android, iPhone and Windows 8.

Be Debt Free

Cost: $3.99

This app allows you to enter details about your debts and to determine the best method of debt repayment for your situation. The app also allows you to see which repayment path will result in shorter repayment times and higher interest rates. It aims to help you to pay off your debts efficiently.

This week, Julie was invited to Churchie Anglican Grammar School to speak at the Year 9 Gender Summit. The Gender Summit saw boys from Year 9 welcome invited delegates from St Aidan’s Anglican Girls’ School, St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School, Somerville House, Moreton Bay College and Lourdes Hill College.
