CR is Loving – Baking Mamas and Smart Girls

This week, it’s all about the Women’s Legal Service, Mamabake, Relationships Australia and Smart Girls at the Party.

Women’s Legal Service

The Women’s Legal Service (WLS) is a specialist community legal centre providing free legal and social work services to Queensland women in what can be the most difficult time of their lives.

Last Friday, Julie attended the WLS Dancing with the CEO’s ball, where $65 000 was raised to support the service. Julie was so inspired by the event and the work that the service does that she, along with the Clarity Road Team, have volunteered to head up the CEO Ball committee next year! To say that we are loving them right now is an understatement…

Head to the WLS website to see their online resources and connect with their network of women.

MamaBake

MamaBake is an international community started in Australia that involves group, big batch baking for mothers.

The idea is simple but oh-so-effective. Every week, mums get together for a group cooking session. Each brings one big meal, they divide it up amongst them and go home with a number of meals cooked for the week. The results? Time off, close friends and new food adventures!

Head to their website to join a community of almost 20 000 women.

Shared Parenting Plan by Relationships Australia

Negotiating a shared parenting arrangement with your ex is one of those conversations you would rather not have. However, it is also a necessary aspect of parenting apart.

We have created a shared parenting plan worksheet in our membership section. But we aren’t ashamed to admit that this information and planning pack by Relationships Australia is the most comprehensive resource we have seen! Not only does it cover residential arrangements, but also financial agreements, emergency contacts and more.

Smart Girls at the Party by Amy Poehler

Are you the mother of a teenage girl? Then Smart Girls at the Party is for you (or, more accurately, your daughter).

Amy Pohler is a golden globe winning actress, comedian, feminist and all round ass-kicker. She grew frustrated by the role models that maturing young women had to look up to, so decided to give the world a reality check. Smart Girls at the Party is an online resource featuring videos, interviews and articles all about life as a teenager. Amy addresses issues like friendship, sex, makeup and other pressures associated with being a teen. She delivers the advice that your daughter doesn’t want to hear from you honestly and candidly. With a few zingers thrown in to boot.

Check out the website, here.

Did we miss anything? What services or resources are you loving this week?

Give Yourself A Break

Taking a break means prioritising self-care in whatever way nourishes your soul. It could be taking a holiday, going to the hair dresser, doing a dance class, art class, or yoga, meditation, deep breathing, laughing with a friend, or visualising a happy place. “Stress mode” cannot coexist with “relaxation mode”, so find a way to relax and take a break.
