Victoria Legal Aid delivers a wide range of legal assistance services in criminal, family and civil law matters. Some legal assistance is available free-of-charge to everyone, including through free brochures, information sessions or telephone legal advice.provide free legal information and advice, and may also be able to offer representation in court. They have offices throughout Victoria, as outline by this map.
Women’s Legal Service Victoria is a statewide legal service for women, specialising in relationship breakdown and violence against women. They provide face to face legal services, including court representation, telephone legal advice and referral, legal education, and law reform activities on issues affecting women and their legal rights.
Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service provides legal advice and representation for the Koorie community, offering services in person and over the phone.
Aboriginal Family Violence Prevention & Legal Service Victoria provides assistance to victims of family violence.
Legal Help Victoria – Northern Region
Hume Riverina Community Legal Service offer legal services including a telephone advice service, face to face clinics, a family relationships clinic and a family violence duty solicitor to people in north-east Victoria.
Loddon Campaspe Legal Centre is located in Bendigo and offer free legal advice, family relationship clinics and related services to people located in the Macedon Ranges, Mount Alexander, Central Goldfields, Greater Bendigo, Loddon and Campaspe shires
Legal Help Victoria – Southern Region
Inner Melbourne Community Legal provide legal advice, information, referral and casework assistance in general family, criminal and some civil law matters. They also provide a number of community outreach services and are involved in community legal education and law reform work.
Fitzroy Legal Service provides free legal advice to people in and around the City of Yarra. However, they do not provide any legal advice by phone or email, so an appointment will be necessary.
Peninsula Community Legal Centre helps people use the law to protect and advance their rights, offering free advice on most legal issues. In addition to its general services, the Centre operates Family Law, Child Support, Intervention Order, Tenant and Consumer Advocacy Programs.
Western Suburbs Legal Service provides a range of free legal help Victoria services to clients who cannot afford to pay for lawyers. Anyone who lives, works or studies in Melbourne’s western suburbs can attend WSLS for initial advice; however the centre places a particular emphasis on assisting people in the City of Hobson’s Bay.
Barwon Community Legal Service provides free legal advice to people who live in the Geelong, Bellarine Peninsula, Surfcoast and Colac Otway regions. The offer a range of services that include legal advice, referral to specialist casework services, community education and development; and policy and law reform activities.
Whittlesea Community Legal Service is a free, confidential and professional service for people who live, work or study in the City of Whittlesea. Their legal team provides advice on many areas of law and are available by appointment or at regular drop-in sessions.
